Florida Homestead Exemption
Florida property tax

County property appraisers, tax collectors and estimators

All 67 counties, the two offices that matter, and a link straight to each county's own property tax estimator where one is published.

Reviewed against published state sources on August 21, 2026. Rules and figures change — always confirm with the agency before acting.

Homestead exemption applications are filed with the county property appraiser, and the property tax bill is issued by the county tax collector. Two different offices, two different websites, and the state Department of Revenue is neither of them.

Below is every Florida county: the property appraiser, the tax collector, whether the appraiser accepts an online homestead application, and a direct link to that county's own tax estimator where one exists.

Estimate the effect of the exemption

The calculator below applies the 2026 exemption structure to numbers you enter. It is arithmetic, not an assessment — your county's own estimator, linked in the table, uses your actual parcel and your actual millage rates.

Homestead savings estimator (2026 figures)

Millage rates vary by county, city and special district and change every year. The defaults above are placeholders, not your rates — your actual millage appears on your TRIM notice each August and on your county property appraiser's website. A mill is $1 of tax per $1,000 of taxable value. This estimate ignores non-ad-valorem assessments (solid waste, fire, stormwater), any additional exemptions, and the Save Our Homes cap. It is an illustration only and is not a tax bill.

About this table

“Check site” in the last column means the appraiser's website did not state either way when this page was compiled, usually because the site is small or blocked automated access — not that online filing is unavailable. Call the office or check its exemptions page.

Office websites, portals and estimator URLs change. If a link here is dead, search for the county name plus “property appraiser” and confirm you are on an official government site before entering any personal information.

Common questions

Where do I file for homestead exemption in Florida?
With the county property appraiser for the county where the property is located, on or before March 1. Applications are not filed with the Florida Department of Revenue or with the county tax collector.
What is the difference between the property appraiser and the tax collector?
The property appraiser determines assessed value and grants exemptions, including homestead. The tax collector bills and collects the tax once the taxing authorities set their millage rates.
How do I estimate my Florida property taxes?
Most county property appraisers publish a tax estimator that uses the actual parcel and the current millage rates for that location. Those links are in the county table on this page. A mill is $1 of tax per $1,000 of taxable value.
Can I file for homestead exemption online in Florida?
Many counties accept online homestead applications, though some require first-time filers to apply in person. The table on this page shows which appraisers state that they accept online filing.
